Weekly Volcano is working on a big fundraiser and we need your help.

In order for us to keep printing, we need to raise more funds and we have some newspaper boxes in storage that need to be repainted. Inspired by the electrical box makeovers, we thought it would be very on brand to have our boxes hand painted by local artists and distributed to high traffic locations.
Here is the idea: You send us a mock up of the design you’d like to put on the box. If your design is chosen, we will give you a box and a stencil of the Weekly Volcano logo which needs to be on all 4 sides of the box and a QR code for the top of the box. You take it home and work your magic.
As soon as you finish painting the box and send us a photo, we both start doing a social media campaign. The public will be asked to vote for their favorite by donation using that QR code. We will also do a story about it in the printed and online version of Weekly Volcano Newspaper.
Then we will do a big art show at a local festival (probably Art on the Ave Sunday July 20th 2025) where you will drop off your box in the morning and people at the festival will be able to see them all together in person and vote for their favorites. The boxes with the top 3 amounts of donations will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes (details of prizes TBA).
After the festival is over and all the donations have been tabulated, every artist who completed a box will be given 50% of the amount of the donations made to their box (minus transaction fees). This will be the end of your participation.
At the closing of the festival the boxes will be loaded up taken to local businesses who will house them safely inside. We will make a self directed ongoing scavenger hunt so people can go visit them and get a copy of the newspaper. The QR codes will remain on the boxes and at that QR code people will get directed to your online presence to learn more about you as an artist and they can also make a donation to Weekly Volcano to continue to support our efforts to sustainably cover stories about our creative community.
