- Connect Across Tacoma Creates Digital Stewards Around the City
- Connect Across Tacoma is a by-and-for organization that reflects the communities they serve. Their Digital Stewards program trains youth and neighborhood leaders in technical and community organizational skills necessary to create and maintain critical internet networks and create thriving digital futures for their communities. Training includes cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, internet infrastructure, and more. The Digital Stewards also train in emergency response and preparedness (mental health, first aid, CPR) so they can help their communities build their own solutions in a variety of circumstances. - Pierce County Eviction Prevention Program Lottery
- The Pierce County Eviction Prevention Program assists eligible low-income households with past-due rent. Participants are chosen through a monthly lottery, reviewed on the 10th of each month. - Property Tax Assessments Coming in 2026 for District 7
- The Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer’s Office is updating property assessments in the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula areas as part of its six-year inspection cycle. Staff will verify property details, confirm changes, and ensure values are fair and accurate. Reviewers will carry identification and travel in marked vehicles. - Federal Employees Get Free Transportation During Shutdown
- Pierce Transit is offering free rides to all federal employees who present a government-issued ID during the federal shutdown. The waiver applies to buses, shuttles, paratransit, runner and rideshare services. About 100,000 federal employees in Kitsap and Pierce Counties rely on public transit, but since the Oct 1 shutdown, many have been unable to reload their fare cards.
- Tacoma City Council Approves Budget Revisions Emphasizing Public Safety
- Tacoma City Council approved mid-biennium budget adjustments for 2025-26 to strengthen public safety, community services, and infrastructure. The revisions align city finances with community needs and changing economic conditions. The plan also introduces new grant funding and internal efficiency measures. - Voices Rock Tacoma Holds First Show Nov 19
- Voices Rock Tacoma, a non-audition community rock choir for adults, presents its first performance Nov 19 at 7:30pm at the Airport Tavern. Enjoy familiar hits from the Beatles to Chappell Roan, performed by local singers back by a live band. A new 10-week session begins in February.
- Holidays Around the World with Jessica Fichot & Guests
- Tacoma Arts Live presents Holidays Around the World with Jessica Fichot, featuring festive songs from Christmas, Dia de los Muertos, Hanukkah, Chinese New Year, Carnaval, and more. - Serve on the Tacoma Community Redevelopment Board
- Tacoma seeks applicants to fill six volunteer seats on the Community Redevelopment Authority Board, including two CPAs, two banking or finance experts, and two real estate professionals with at least three years experience. - Register for the Norpoint Classic on Thanksgiving
- Join the annual Norpoint Classic fun run on Thanksgiving Day. The chip-timed 3K and 5K courses start at 9am from the Center at Norpoint and feature scenic views of Mount Rainier and Puget Sound. - Experience Peace Among the Trees at the Conservatory
- The W.W. Seymour Botanical Conservatory’s Autumn Flower Show highlights the season’s colors through Nov 30. Displays include sunflowers, chrysanthemums, ornamental peppers and coleus grown in the Parks Tacoma greenhouse.
- Big Time Wrestling Returns to Tacoma
- After nearly six decades, professional wrestling returns to the Tacoma Armory. Grit City Championship Wrestling debuts Nov 22, reviving Tacoma’s wrestling legacy. The Armory hosted major events in the 1950s and 60s including Luther Lindsay’s 1966 NWA title win. The new showcase, co-created by Tacoma native Diafullah “The Butcher” Dobashi, begins at 7:30pm.
