Originally from Guadalupe La Libertad, Peru, Juan La Torre has lived in Tacoma for 28 years. As the owner and artist behind La Torre Art Studio, he creates and sells paintings, sculptures, and handmade goods. Juan loves the artistic and cultural movement in Tacoma, especially how the city supports immigrant and BIPOC businesses, cuisines, celebrations, and arts. He values how the people of Tacoma recognize the power of art in everyday life and continue to make space for it in the community. For Juan, Tacoma’s creativity and inclusiveness make it a place he’s proud to call home.
