Letter From Our New Editor

BY ANGELA JOSSY

Ah, November! Land of pumpkin lattes, rainy days and cuddle time. Do people still say “cuffing season?” I prefer to cuddle with my labradoodle, listen to Kiffness tunes featuring cats and dogs singing and work on my stack of self-development and business books. I’ve got a lot to learn. I knew running a newspaper would be a steep learning curve, but that’s what I signed up for. Let me tell you, it’s been a rollercoaster! It’s still a dream job though. No complaints here! November is also a great month to grab your best friend and go to Blue Mouse Theater in Proctor and then head over to Peaks and Pints where you can fill your bellies and debrief the film together over a cold one.

Blue Mouse is celebrating its 100th Birthday this month! I love the buildings and businesses that have endured the test of time. Blue Mouse is truly one of Tacoma’s most iconic places. (See story on page 9) We also have several other stories about blue-related things so we decided to make a whole blue section in this issue. Did you know we have a local swimmers group called Tahkoma Bluetits? Did you know we have a new bar called Blue Rose? Have you ever crossed the Narrows Bridge for a day of pampering at Blue Moon Spa? We’ve got the scoop on all of those things for you in this issue! We also have a great story about Tacoma’s UFO history, the 411 on Tacoma’s Green Zone, features on three bands, advice for newbie artists from artist Lynn Di Nino, horoscopes, an update on our homeless situation from our local government plus a view from the streets, how to avoid the relentless campaigns by crypto scammers, a full accounting of nightlife activities this month and a Dia de los Muertos mask you can cut out, color in, frame or wear to the big celebration at Tacoma Art Museum on November 5th! We also have a gift guide to help you shop locally for the holidays! Honestly, we had more good stories for this issue than we had room for. Did you know we have a weekly publication too? You don’t even have to go hunting around town to get it because we deliver it to your email inbox every Friday. Sign up at weekly-volcano.com/newsletter.

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows though, we got hit with a huge plumbing issue last month that took a big chunk out of our reserves. We need the support of local advertisers now more than ever so please reach out if you’d like us to make a video commercial, web ad or print ad for you.

Think of us first when looking to reach Tacoma audiences. This is what we were built for! Reach out via email to advertising@weekly-volcano.com.
