Joel’s Top Ten Songs for May 2024

By Joel Schomberg

This last month was challenging for me, and unfortunately, I wasn’t able to engage in the work I truly enjoy—reporting on Tacoma’s music scene. Nonetheless, I still found solace in listening to the remarkable music produced by our local talents.

Therefore, instead of a comprehensive story, I present to you the Tacoma Top Ten best songs of May 2024.

This compilation isn’t influenced by sales figures or radio airplay. The sole criteria are:

  1. These songs were released in January 2024 or later

  2. I haven’t previously written about them

While I have previously covered some of the artists featured here before, these tracks represent a fresh exploration of their artistry.

I look forward to delving deeper into the works of these bands, sharing more about who they are, and unveiling their creative processes to you. In the meantime, I encourage you to seek them out.

2. “Little Black Box” by Black Smoker, single available on Spotify
