Dear Reader, Please Start Here - Let Me Explain

BY ANGELA JOSSY

Dear Reader,

This is our 5th issue since the relaunch of the Weekly Volcano. Since I bought the business, we made sure each issue has been an act of love but this one is special. The whole issue is dedicated to Love & Tacoma.

We are blessed to be able to put a Beautiful Angle poster on the cover! In case you were not aware, people search desperately all over the city when a batch of these beauties are discreetly hidden throughout our fair city. We also have a story on the previous page from one of the creators, Tom Llewelln, about why he uses Tacoma as a backdrop for all his books!

Sprinkled through the issue we also have quotes from Power Couples (nominated by our readers on Facebook) and we will be publishing even more from them on Social Media throughout February.

In addition to the monthly newspaper, we have published 17 issues of the Happy Friday Newsletter via email to our subscribers. As of press time we have over 700 subscribers already! I wanted a 100% open rate but I am told 63% is extremely good. I want every single person in Tacoma / Pierce County to subscribe so we have at least one thing that unites us all. So if you haven’t signed up yet, please get on that! An informed community is a strong community!

We have also launched 3 fun mini-series shows online. Everybody loves “Fred Finds", “Phoenix and Friends” and “The Record Prophet.” This month, we are excited to release our 4th mini-series called “Tacoma ART BUS Tour” where we follow the ART BUS around and showcase local artists, galleries and businesses. Be sure to subscribe to Weekly Volcano on socials so you get notified when new episodes are released.

Did I mention we are relaunching Tacoma ART BUS? This has been the #1 request people have been asking me for over the past few years and I’m finally doing it! February 15th is the first bus tour (the theme is BARBIE STYLE)!

We are also launching an IndieGoGo this month. Our goal is to keep Weekly Volcano free and accessible and it turns out, that’s pretty expensive. Your contributions will help us upgrade our technology, support our team and keep up on startup bills.

On the back page of this issue, just for fun, we created a Sunday Funday BINGO card! The prize is a day full of iconic Tacoma fun, delicious food, and a chance to meet some fellow Sunday-Funday pals! Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for Monkeyshines!

We are looking for more advertisers and sales people. If that’s you, reach out to me at angela.jossy@weekly-volcano.com.
