BY MATT STEVENS for WEEKLY VOLCANO | 10/9/2026
I found myself one late evening at Peaks and Pints, my old haunt in the Proctor District, and searched to find a new but seasonal beer. Logan Brewing makes beer up in Burien, so it’s an easy jaunt for a Tacoman. I ordered their Lynel, which they call a Festbier – and as we’re deep into Oktoberfest season, it seemed a great choice.
The beer pours a golden yellow with a small white head. I always love the various glassware options at Peaks and Pints, and they deliver with British-style pint glass.
The nose has a big malt character and very little floral hops – they are there, just quite subdued. There is a hint of bready-ness in a very good way. If you are looking for a dank or hazy IPA, stay away from the Festbier. This is a very pilsner malt specific flavor profile, with very little of the darker crystal, melanoidins, or flavonoids in the nose.
This beer really leans into that great crisp lager territory off the initial taste. It is shockingly crisp, just a beautiful, clean beer that demands an immediate second sip. The flavor profile calls for a malty flavor with a light toasty taste along with low bitterness. This is actually a great beer to drink in the dark like I was at Peaks and Pints, and as I carried it back to my seat, I thought I was getting another darker Vienna Lager. But this beer tastes so clean and crisp, it was obvious it was a pilsner malt driven beer.
The mouthfeel – the third, fourth, and fifth sips is where this beer really shines. It’s incredibly drinkable and crisp. The slightly floral hops start to shine as I can bury my nose in the half-empty glass and the hops are fully expressed. It’s a great combo with the crispness of the malt.
Overall, this is a very enjoyable beer. A great beer to lead off your Oktoberfest pub crawl, or to dive into for four as you watch some football.
Logan Brewing has two pubs: 510 SW 151st Street in Burien, and 8611 S. 212th Street in Kent. Both locations have no kitchen, but usually a food truck and outside food (and outside dogs!) are welcome at both.
