Tacoma Porchfest Benefit Concerts

BY BRITTANY DANIELLE for WEEKLY VOLCANO 6/5/26 |

Tacoma’s music scene has long been sustained by collaboration. From neighborhood house shows and artist-run festivals to volunteer-driven events, the city’s cultural life depends on people willing to invest their time and talent. That spirit will be on display this June as Tacoma Porchfest hosts two benefit concerts in support of their grassroots neighborhood music festival. The benefit concerts showcase a diverse roster of local performers.

The series begins June 6 at The Mothership in South Tacoma with My Chemical Fauxmance, Hard Softee, Kuwaisiana, and more. It continues June 27 at The Lumora downtown with performances by Ffooff, Haystack Slim & the Broken Arrow, Tacoma Noise Rodeo, and other special guests.

The benefit concerts arrive as Tacoma Porchfest continues to grow into one of the region’s largest music centered community events. Each year, the festival transforms Tacoma neighborhoods into a walkable celebration of live music, bringing together musicians, homeowners, volunteers, businesses, and thousands of attendees.

What distinguishes Porchfest is its accessibility. There are no expensive tickets and few barriers between performers and audiences. The festival is built around the idea that music can bring neighbors together, and it does.

The venues hosting the benefit concerts reflect that same philosophy.

The Mothership has become one of South Tacoma’s most significant gathering spaces for artists, musicians, makers, and entrepreneurs. As home to the Tacoma Night Market and a growing calendar of concerts and public events, the venue supports a network of vendors, performers, and small businesses that contribute to Tacoma’s cultural and economic life.

Spaces like The Mothership play an increasingly important role in cities where affordable venues are becoming harder to find. Beyond hosting entertainment, they create opportunities for artists and small business owners to connect directly with audiences. Those interactions generate economic activity while strengthening the relationships that help local arts scenes thrive.

The June 6 lineup consists of My Chemical Fauxmance channeling the theatrical energy and emotional intensity of the early-2000s emo and pop-punk era.

Hard Softee is known for its DIY sensibility and refusal to fit neatly within a single genre. The band reflects a tradition of experimentation that has long distinguished Tacoma artists from their counterparts in larger music markets.

Kuwaisiana brings a distinctive perspective shaped by diverse cultural influences and a willingness to engage questions of identity, place, and social change.

On June 27, the series moves downtown to The Lumora, one of Tacoma’s newest arts venues, which hosts a variety of Tacoma art, from music shows to improv to collaborative events that invite anyone from the community to join.

While The Mothership serves as a large gathering space, The Lumora offers an intimate setting dedicated to experimental performance and artistic exploration.

Small venues have historically played a crucial role in the development of local arts communities. They provide room for emerging artists to take risks, develop audiences, and refine their work. Their impact extends beyond the stage. Venues help attract visitors, increase foot traffic for nearby businesses, and strengthen Tacoma’s reputation as a destination for arts and culture.

The June 27 lineup embraces that spirit of exploration. Ffooff has developed a reputation for pushing beyond conventional genre boundaries, drawing from noise, rock, improvisation, and performance art to create unpredictable live experiences.

Haystack Slim & the Broken Arrow draws from the traditions of blues, folk, country, and American roots music while maintaining a distinctly Pacific Northwest identity.

Tacoma Noise Rodeo may be among the most aptly named acts in the city. The project embraces experimentation and creative risk.
For anyone who values local music and the future of Tacoma’s cultural life, these Tacoma Porchfest benefit concerts offer more than a night of entertainment from bands and venues that believe in what we have to offer here. They provide an opportunity to support the people and places that help define the city.

Both concerts are all ages and no cover. All donations support Porchfest 2026.
